I have a puppy who needs training. What class should I start in?

First off, welcome to DFW Dog Quest! If your puppy is anywhere from 8 weeks to 8 months old and needs a starter class, we suggest you enroll in one of our Puppy Manners classes. That is where your puppy will learn all the basic fundamentals, get socialized with other dogs and people, and much more!

What if my dog has never attended any training class before, but is too old for Puppy Maners class?

That’s not a problem! DFW Dog Quest loves dogs of all ages! You and your dog can join one of our Basic Manners classes if your pup is over 8 months old. In these classes, dogs will learn the basic manners and life skills they will need to become a valued family member, plus it will serve as a foundation for other classes at DFW Dog Quest.

My dog has a behavior problem that needs to be corrected. What is the best way to do this?

In cases of behavior problems, we recommend that you work with a trainer on a one‐on‐one basis. You can schedule a private class by calling us at 972‐436‐3400 or email at train@dfwdogquest.com. Some examples of behavior problems include jumping on people, barking excessively, housebreaking issues, etc.  Private classes may be held at the DFW Dog Quest facility or in your own home.

What if I enroll in a class and we miss one of the sessions? Do you offer make‐ups?

We do not offer make‐up classes. However, if you feel it would be difficult for you and your dog to catch up, we recommend scheduling a private class. All of our trainers offer one‐on‐one private lessons at an additional cost.

My dog already knows his basic manners and we are interested in Agility. Where should we start if we’ve never done it before?

Agility is a blast, and you and your dog will have so much fun! We offer Agility Fundamentals, the foundation class for a successful career in Agility whether you decide to compete or just have fun with your dog. We also offer an Agility for Fun class (FUNgility) if you just want to try it out and see if you and your dog like the sport. If your dogs didn’t learn basic manners at DFW Dog Quest, they will need to be evaluated by a trainer to make sure they have the skills required to succeed in the class of your choice. The evaluation is done through a private class at an additional cost.

I am interested in Agility, but am not sure how good my dog will be at it. Could we still take a class?

Yes, of course! In this case, we would recommend that you and your dog take a private class.  This will give you an idea if both of you like it well enough to want to enroll in one of our Agility classes. At DFW Dog Quest, we offer classes in all levels of Agility.

What are your vaccination requirements?

We require that all dogs older than 16 weeks be fully immunized in accordance with the recommendations of your veterinarian. Puppies must have had two rounds of puppy shots in order to attend classes at DFW Dog Quest.
